Lake Garda

Lake Garda at 145 miles across is the largest inland lake in Italy. The shallow shoreline in the south possesses excellent beaches which, coupled with the area's very mild climate makes for its popularity as a holiday spot. Its closeness to large population centres and the relative lack of other resort areas have turned its entire southern perimeter into a festive holidayers' strip.

We stayed one night at Desenzano del Garda for a quiet and welcome break from the hectic and sometimes overwhelming pace so far. The hotel is very charming with post-modernism interior decoration. An early morning walk along the shoreline gave me a chance to see the sunrise, to pick up a handfull of tiny pebbles.
